Saturday morning saw the U12s return to the SCG for their home matches and they welcomed Wigginton Grasshoppers from York. This time of the year sees the surface at the cricket club in mint condition which allowed for some brilliant play from both teams.
Unfortunately for the Wiggy girls there coached was involved in a minor accident on the way to the game but thanks to his assistant for collecting the girls from his car and continuing on to play this fixture. Hope all is ok now for Tom.
Despite not the best of preparation for a game the Wigginton girls started really strong and tested the scorchers defence and resolve. The scorchers with their number 1 keeper missing saw Connie and Abbey step up and share the keeping duties and they did a fantastic job. All the scorchers played superbly and are getting better week by week and hopefully one week we will see the whole squad together.
Wigginton took a 1 goal lead into half time but for the second week in a row Scotton's new super striker Imogen popped up with her a second goal in as many weeks to secure a 1-1 draw which was probably a fair result all round.
Scotton's girl of the game this week went to Aimee for another solid game in defence keeping a strong tricky Wigginton strikeforce at bay, well done Aimee.
Well played to ALL the girls from both teams, a great game of football and we even managed the jumping photo with both teams this week!!
